  • W.I.S.E. Giving: Uncovering Your Donor's Why, How, and How Much

Speaker: Chris Gabriel

Too often, generosity either doesn't happen at all or it fails to achieve its full potential. To succeed, charity and philanthropy must be W.I.S.E.: Well-grounded, Inspired, Satisfying, and Effective. The W.I.S.E. Giving Process provides two unique tools - - Personal Giving Identity (Why and How should I give?) and Potential Giving Capacity (How much can I give?). The answers to these questions help to more meaningfully engage the three primary participants of any significant gift: donors, nonprofits, and professional advisors. This interactive session allows attendees to experience these two tools in order to better understand the power of transformational donor engagement.

  • Creating Pipeline Reports: A Tale of Two Tallies

Speaker: Rebecca Rothey

With 10,000 baby boomers per day retiring, it's a great time for major and planning giving. And yet, the importance of consistent budgeting for planned giving, especially, needs to be regularly demonstrated to management. Therefore, planned giving requires judicious internal marketing. This session will show, through two real-life illustrations, how to create a planned gift pipeline report and how to use the report for internal marketing. Using additional studies, the presentation will share major gift tracking reports. It reviews specific techniques for identifying and documenting bequest intentions and includes how to use bequest intention forms, conversational tactics for discerning bequest intentions, and data mining and tracking for potential major and planned gifts. It will share examples of storytelling for internal marketing.

  • CRTs are Much More than a Tax Strategy, They May be the Most Inexpensive and Useful Tool in an Estate Plan

Speaker: Jennifer Nohelty

The Testamentary Charitable Trust has always been a great tool to leave retirement assets at your death, but did you know that it is the most elegant and simple estate planning tool in our arsenal? Taxes may bring donors to our "table", but when we show our donors how they can "protect their heirs from themselves" by giving them a stream of income rather than a lump sum distribution, we have just given our donors a solution to a bigger problem than taxes!
